It feels good to be lost in the right direction

Have you ever stumbled upon a quote that resonated with you, even though you couldn't attribute it to a specific author or know what they specifically meant? We recently stumbled upon such a quote, and its words stayed in the back of our minds, compelling us to delve into its meaning.

In our quest for a meaningful life, we often fixate on more superficial or comparative notions like "How are we doing compared to our friends" or "Did we get a promotion" and forget that it's the overarching trajectory that shapes our existence and gives it depth and meaning.

While the tangible outcomes of our daily efforts may be hard to measure in terms of long-term success, it is crucial to remember that they are valid as building blocks that contribute to our progress, but they don't define the direction. Like Sisyphus pushing the boulder—there’s purpose and value in fulfilling our daily tasks, but we need to make sure that we’re standing at the foot of the right hill. Determining the right direction is, therefore, not always straightforward. Sometimes, it requires us to make difficult choices that may not yield immediate rewards or societal recognition. True fulfillment lies in aligning our actions with our inner voice—that intuitive guide deep within us.

Ironically, it is possible to achieve success while being on a path that leads us astray from our true purpose, and this can be one of the most challenging situations to navigate. Our intellect may deceive us, convincing us that we are on the right track, while a sense of emptiness lingers within. External validations and achievements can easily overshadow the internal turmoil we may be experiencing. Yet, deep down, we know that success devoid of true alignment with our core values and aspirations will ultimately leave us unfulfilled.

In such moments, it becomes essential to reconnect with our inner compass and pause and reflect. It is a call to reevaluate our definition of success and to examine whether our current trajectory is genuinely in harmony with our authentic selves. Let us not be afraid to recalibrate our course, even if it means venturing into the unknown or steering away from societal expectations.

Remember, it's not about merely being busy or achieving short-term goals—it's about living a life that resonates with our deepest values while embracing the courage to explore uncharted territories, question conventional wisdom, and forge our unique path toward fulfillment. Let’s find comfort in the words of the unknown author who inspired us and remember that in general: "It (should) feel good to be lost in the right direction."

So, as we continue our journey, may we find ourselves captivated by the joy of purposeful wandering and exploring the meaningfulness that comes with staying true to our inner compass.

Until next time
